  • How long does a solar array last?

    Solar systems in general will last 25-30 years.

  • How do I decide how big my system should be

    Solar systems are designed based on a customers passed 12 months of electricity usage. In general the goal is to produce the amount of energy a customers consumes each month.

  • How do I get credit for my solar electricity production?

    If the utility company has a buy back program they will buy back the electricity generated above what the customer uses. The overproduction is tracked through a utility provided meter.

  • Will my system need maintenance?

    Solar systems typically do not need any regular maintenance outside of the occasional washing of the solar panels.

  • Can solar panels be recycled?

    Yes and each year more and more technology is being developed to better accomplish panel recycling.

  • On what roof materials can solar be installed?

    Shingle, Metal, Tile and TPU.

  • What if my roof isn’t good for solar?

    We can roll the cost of a new roof into the solar system financing giving the customer one payment for a new roof, a solar system and the utility expense it covers

  • What happens when the power goes out?

    The customer will be out of power unless they have a back up battery system or a generator.

  • How do batteries work with solar?

    Batteries work in conjunction with solar to stay charged so that in the event of a power outage, the house would still have power

  • Can I install solar panels now and add battery storage later?


Installing Solar

  • Will solar work on my roof?

    Yes, most systems are installed on roofs.

  • Should I repair or replace roof before going solar?

    Only if its needed due to storm damage or age.

  • How long does it take to install a system?

    It takes 45-60 days to get all the paperwork, engineering and plans approved but it only takes 1-2 days to physically get the install completed.

  • What should I look for in an installer?

    Someone local with good reviews and a proven track record.

  • Do systems come with warranties?

    Yes, typically they come with a 25 year warranty.

  • What if my system has problems?

    Roofio will stand by it’s work and fix any issues that come up.

  • What should I do if I’m a member of a homeowners association?


  • What if I live in a historic district?

    We will work with historical district to meet all the requirements.

  • What is the process to get my system permitted?

    We handle that process.

  • Can I install solar on a mobile, manufactured, or modular home?

    Yes, with certain finance companies and with cash.

  • How can I put solar on my RV camper or van?

    It can be roof mounted.

Solar Economics

  • How do I read my electric bill?

    Every company has a different bill layout but most show the last 3 months of usage in KWh.

  • How do I get compensated for the electricity I produce?

    The utility gives you a credit.

  • What happens if I produce more electricity than I use?

    IF your utility company has a buy back program then you will receive the buyback amount monthly on your statement in a from of credit against what you would have owed.

  • What factors affect system pricing?

    The amount of panels needed along with other things like whether or not a roof is needed and/or trenching is needed.

  • How much will my solar energy system cost?

    It depends on the size of system you need to offset your usage.

  • What financing options are available to me?

  • What are the benefits of owning my system?

    Take control of your power production and the amount you pay for your system compared to buying power from the utility company. This will be a fixed cost for 25-30 years. You also have the ability to add battery at a later date.

  • Will going solar affect my insurance?

    It is possible you have to increase your overall coverage and that could cost a few dollars per month.

  • What loans are available to help me go solar?

    There are 15, 20 and 25 year options with various interest rates.

  • How will solar affect my home value if I want to sell?

    It will increase it by 3-5%
